Privacy Policy — Hilal Tracker

1. Information We Collect

Hilal Tracker is designed to operate primarily on-device and offline. We collect minimal information required for core functionality.

Location Data: The app may access your device's precise location to calculate accurate moon and sun positions, determine crescent visibility, show direction and altitude of the moon, and display Hijri calendar timing. Important: Location data is processed locally on your device, we do not sell location data, and we do not continuously track your movement.

Camera Access: The app may request camera permission for AR Sky View, Moon direction overlay, and real-time astronomical guidance. Camera data is processed locally and is not uploaded to our servers.

Sensor Data: The app uses device sensors including the Accelerometer, Gyroscope, and Magnetometer / compass. This data is used solely for orientation detection, AR guidance, and compass direction stabilization. Sensor data is not stored or transmitted.

Observation Logs: If you use the moon sighting log feature, the app may store observation notes, timestamps, visibility status, and optional GPS coordinates. These records are stored locally on your device.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

Hilal Tracker does NOT collect passwords, contacts, messages, browsing history, microphone recordings, biometric data, or financial information. We do not sell user data to advertisers or third parties.

3. Offline Processing

Most astronomical calculations are performed entirely on-device using built-in astronomy models. This includes moon positioning, crescent visibility calculations, Hijri calendar calculations, and direction/altitude estimation. Internet access is optional and may only be used for downloading map tiles, weather integration, or optional community features.

4. Third-Party Services

Hilal Tracker may use trusted third-party services such as Google Play Services, Firebase Crashlytics (future), Firebase Analytics (future), OpenStreetMap tile servers, and Android system location services. These services may collect limited technical information according to their own privacy policies.

5. Data Security

We use reasonable technical measures to protect your information. However, no method of electronic storage or internet transmission is 100% secure.

6. Children's Privacy

Hilal Tracker is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Permissions Explained

ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION: Used for accurate moon positioning.

CAMERA: Used for AR sky view.

HIGH_SAMPLING_RATE_SENSORS: Used for smooth compass and direction updates.

Permissions are only used for app functionality.

8. Your Control

You may deny permissions, disable location access, delete observation logs, or uninstall the app at any time. Some features may not function correctly without required permissions.

9. Future Community Features

Future versions may include sighting sharing, cloud synchronization, global observation maps, and optional accounts. If introduced, this Privacy Policy will be updated before such features become active.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Updated versions will be posted inside the app or on the app listing page.
